Weekend Wrap Up

We haven't been to Easton to visit Kyle's family in almost a year. So last weekend we decided to make the drive north. We were also lucky that it was the same weekend as Kyle's cousin Alex's Acceptance Day parade at West Point. We got to see a lot of family and show off JSD to people that hadn't met him yet.
Friday we went to see Kyle's sister and our four nieces. Then we went to this yummy burger place on the side of the road next to a gas station. The burgers were HUGE. Later we went to a farmers market, and I got some apricot lavender jam. YUM!

I would say that a highlight of the trip was our trip Saturday to West Point. I had never been before, and coming from a military family it was a cool place to visit. there was even a parachute demonstration by the Black Knights, the parachute team. JSD got to spend some time outside (which is his favorite thing to do). I plopped him down the the grass and he LOVED it.

Sunday I went on a walk around Kyle's parent's neighborhood. They live in a lovely old historic neighborhood and there are some BEAUTIFUL houses.  The weather was wonderful the whole time we were in PA. We spent time in the front porch Sunday morning just enjoying outside.

We left Sunday afternoon and stopped at my parents to pick up the dog. we ended up staying that night and drove back to Cville early Monday morning. I am so happy we live so much closer to family now! This trip was so easy compared to when we lived in GA.

Dawgs on top!

I'm linking up with Sami's Shenanigans to share my weekend. It was the first home game in Athens!

Our new tailgate location was great! We had a wonderful shady spot and easy access to in-door plumbing. At one point during the day there was a large contingent of small children at the tailgate, and their parents made alcohol free jello shots (aka, jello in a little cup).  Perfect for small children and pregnant adults! I will admit one positive of being pregnant at a football game... the line for the bathroom. As soon as ladies saw me standing they immediately told me to go to the front of the line. I doubt I waited more than 3 minutes for the bathroom at any given time.!

While it might be nearing fall the temperature here is still high, and in the stadium it is even worse. Kyle brought home hand fans before we left for the game. I have no idea why we didn't think of these sooner! Made sitting in the heat MUCH more bearable. Or if you are like the old lady that sat in front of us you will read a book on your iPad the entire game in order to make your experience more enjoyable (seriously!) While sitting on the hard benches was getting to me by the third quarter, the game was so good I couldn't leave. And I am glad I didn't because the Dawgs won!

Sunday we couldn't pick Gigi up until 6:00pm so we took advantage of being dogless and slept in. We ran errands in the afternoon that included buying a new mattress and complete new bedding for our master bedroom. We got this lovely duvet set on sale for half off. I think I am turning into my mother because I love finding a good deal!

All in all a wonderful weekend and a great first home game!

Labor Day Recap

Kyle and I went north for Labor Day weekend. Since I will be entering my third trimester during the holidays, we decided to take this last opportunity for a long road trip to visit family. We left for Pennsylvania on Thursday and made the trip in about 12 hours, ugh. Friday morning we hung out with our nieces downtown.

Kyle and our youngest niece Mira.

Saturday was the BIG return of college football. We started the day by attending Kyle's old high school freshmen football game. Easton won! It was actually a really fun game to watch.

We then went to start our baby registry. My mother in law used to work in a baby furniture store and already has five grandkids, so she was an excellent resource to have along on the trip! Kyle and I had been in a Babies R Us store earlier in the month and I just got completely overwhelmed, while Kyle ran off to play with Nerf guns in Toys R Us. I really needed someones help and I was glad my mother in law could assist! It was really nice to be able to try things out, like the stroller and baby carriers to see how they worked and if we liked them. The hardest part about this registry is not knowing what the kid is actually going to like using or what Kyle and I will like using. There is just SO MUCH STUFF!

Creepy display "baby" in baby carrier section.

We spent the evening watching the Hokies and Dawgs lose. Gigi was less than thrilled.

Sunday was took our two older nieces out. We did some school supply shopping. Then went to this store called Five Below. I had never heard of it, but basically it is like an upscale Dollar Store. We bought a bunch of necessary things like.....

Googly eye glasses and....

DIY jelly bracelets.

And Kyle helped our niece Brooke finish a school project.

It was a great trip to see the in laws! On Monday we were supposed to return to Athens, but we decided to stop in VA and surprise my parents. It was great to see them. My mom freaked out when she opened the door and immediately started rubbing my belly. While in VA we got Thai food, mom and I got mani/pedis and we all looked at baby furniture.

Gigi made her self extra comfortable on the couch.

Tuesday we continued the trek back to Athens, making it in about 10 hours. Gigi did such a great job in the car! It was such a short trip for such a long drive, but totally worth it.

Weekend Update

I'm linking up with Sami's Shenanigans to share my weekend!

1. One my way to Atlanta to visit Brianna, that's my excited face. She is in Atlanta twice a year for a conference, so it is the perfect excuse for a reunion!
2. Selfie in the elevator with Brianna.
3. We  celebrated National Margarita Day on Friday.
4. Emerald nail polish. Loving. Painted my nails while Brianna was giving her presentation on leadership at SEIFC.
5. Thrift shopping with Kyle on Sunday, just call him Macklemore. Found this gem of a leather jacket. Hilarious.

Weekend Recap

What a wonderful weekend! We started off Friday night by cleaning out the kitchen (I know, super exciting). We needed to distract Gigi for like an hour, enter the famous 2 liter bottle toy! I honestly don't know why we spend any money on toys when she LOVE chewing up empty 2 liter bottles.

Saturday morning we woke up and Gigi and I had a mini photo shoot. Check out those armpit rolls! Ha!

Kyle made me pumpkin pancakes! I LOVE this mix from Trader Joe's! So good!

Then I decided to bake. Tis' the season for all things pumpkin.

Pumpkin Cream Cheese Bread

Saturday night, Kyle's friend Rich came to Athens to visit! We of course took him to Pauleys.

Then to All Good.

I was smart and put a Pumpkin French Toast Bake in the fridge the night before, so all I had to do Sunday morning when we woke up was throw it in the oven. It came out GREAT!

Delicious!

Gigi loved spending time with Rich.

Gigi had her first obedience class Sunday. She is the second youngest and the second smallest. I really like the class. I think she has sit down, but we are working on laying down now. She did pretty good in the play group before class, but in the play group after class she was much more outgoing.

Making new friends!

Man puppy class will ware you out!

Weekend Wrap Up

One word for this weekend: relaxing. Friday night we had a good bye party for Kyle's old boss and then stayed downtown with some new folks from work and took them to some of our favorite places. I love showing off this town!
I am really really going to have to reconsider the black out curtain in the bedroom. I slept in until 11:30am Saturday. Not ok. It is throwing me off for the whole weekend. Saturday afternoon (after a 1:30pm breakfast) we went and saw Savages.

Ehhh, it was ok. I really liked Salma Hayek, but there was something missing from Blake Lively's performance, which made me sad because I really like her. And my boy Taylor Kitsch had like zero lines, at least he was nice to look at. And I choked on popcorn in the middle of the movie and everyone got mad at me for coughing. So embarrassing.
Sunday, again I slept too late. I worked most of Sunday afternoon. We started training last week, which meant I had a lot of email and other things that needed to get done. I totally didn't mind working, it gave me a head start on the week. We went to The Grill for dinner and I had a DELICIOUS chocolate malt. We ended our Sunday with True Blood. It is getting good this season. Part of me is loving this summer break from Sunday night sorority executive meetings. Not going to lie, it has been nice to get in bed at 10pm instead of midnight like during the school year, but that's the price you pay as an advisor :)
Have a great Monday everyone!!!
